Visiting Dominica by yacht? Moor your boat in the beautiful scenic Prince Rupert Bay.  Away from the crowds, Portsmouth offers peace and quiet, beaches, waterside restaurants, mooring and a wide range of yacht services. Cabrits Dive Centre is pleased to provide you with the following information to help you with your stay in Portsmouth.

  • Rendezvous Diving - Cabrits Dive Centre is also pleased to offer rendezvous diving to the sailing community.  Either book your diving in advance or call CH 16 on your radio and the Cabrits Dive Centre boat will pick you up at your mooring and return you to your boat after a fun filled day diving.

  • Yacht Services – Cabrits Dive Centre recommends that you use the services of members of the Portsmouth Association of Yacht Security (see below) for assistance with customs clearance, water and fuel, hotel and restaurant reservations, tours, laundry and groceries.

  • Customs Clearance - You can clear in and out in one easy operation for up to two weeks. Customs is by the commercial port to the east of town. You can dinghy there yourself or you can hire one of the Yacht Service Guides to take you there and back. Customs hours are Mondays 0830-1300 and 1400-1700; Tuesday to Friday 0830-1300 and 1400-1600

  • Night Security – Portsmouth Association of Yachting Security (P.A.Y.S) is a non-profit association that provides security patrols every night from November through May in the main yacht anchorage which runs from the market place to the south side of the Cabrits. These patrols are paid for by our members and from contributions from yachts. Please let our boat captain know if you would like to make a donation.

  • Moorings – Prince Rupert Bay now hosts 30 moorings at USD 10 per night. These moorings were put in place to help protect the nursing grounds within Prince Rupert Bay. Please only pay authorized tour guides for these moorings including Faustin Alexis, Eddison Laville, Providence (Martin) and Jerome of Cobra Tours.

  • Utilities - Duty Free Fuel and Water in large quantities are available from the Cabrits Cruise Ship Dock. Smaller quantities of water are also available from a buoy at the Big Papa’s Restaurant,

  • Internet is available at Big Papa’s Restaurant and on-board wifi comes through Purple Turtle.

  • Yacht Chandlery – duty free items will be available from Dominica Marine Centre who are opening an operation in Portsmouth in November 2007. They will stock items from Lewis Marine, West Marine, DS Hull, Land and Sea and Budget marine. If they do not have the items in stock that you need, they can order them within 1 to 5 days depending on the size and the nature of the items.
